SAMPLE ARCHIVE > DRUM MACHINE

☢ Yamaha RY-30 (1991)

Digital drum machine, derived from famous Sy Series. Here's the most complete sample set ever made including hard to find cards!

☢The RY DLX Sample pack:
- 89 wav files internal one-shot at 24 bits HQ
- 246 samples from 11 cards
- 38 loops from internal patterns (with bpm)
- 1 kontakt 8+ (original mapping more than 380 samples  with 4 velocities  and original panning - extral controls like reverb, filter.
- Simple soundfont version (no control)
- also old classic 16 bits version for samples.

🎧 Format: all samples are in WAV 24 bits/ 44 kHz Mono-stereo

🎁 Free samples pack of classic 16 bits

We sampled an overhauled Ry30 calibrated to factory
condition for full genuine sound of the era. And a cat.

What's inside?

■ Whole 89 internal sounds sampled at high 24 bits quality with original panning (stereo)
-12 kicks,2 crashes,3 cymbal,3fx, 24 misc. percussions, 22 snares, 8 toms, the 7 internal "synth" waveforms
- 246 exclusive wavs from 11 cards, including ethnic, signature drums, rap, techno and more.
- 1 kontakt (8+ required) version with 4 velocities  of all sound (380 samples from int sound).
- 38 loops from patterns

OVERVIEW Sober design, quite minimal, machine is not so big all.
The Ry30 is a 1 6-note polyphony, digital core with 16 touch sensitive pads which are a kind of horror to fix ... talking by experience). Quite limited display, standard at the time, the ry30 has a non so conventional pitch bender for sound control.

RELATED RACK VERSION with differences is Yamaha RM50 - check out our page

EDIT  Sound engine is based on AWM2 synthesis from SY-TG synth (in fact waveform cards are compatible); internal engine is 16-bit, up to 48kHz PCM - but most of the waveforms are at 22 or 33 kHz according to ROM waves dump. The RY30 internal wavetable are acoustic drum and percussion samples and an additional 6 analog waves with some kind of bass. Additional sounds and patterns can be brought in via ROM cards for the RY30/RM50 as well as some SY/TG cards.

WAVEFORMS These are divided into eight categories: Kicks (12), Snares (19), Hi-Hats (8), Cymbals (5), Toms (8), Latin Percussion (20), Effects (12) and Synthesised Waveforms (6). Waves can be reversed, if you really have to.

FILTER digital 12 and 24 db/oct highpass and lowpass filters. Fun real-time tweaks can be made and assigned to midi control (e.g cutoff CC16) or velocity. Variable cutoff point, a resonance amount (on the low-pass filters) and filter EG initial level and rate per Wave.

EG you can set a pitch EG initial rate and level (+), define pitch, filter and amplitude sensitivity to velocity (for the pads), assign the Voice to the stereo outs and/or one of the 4 individual outs. Simmons-bend sound can be achieved quite easily.

SEQUENCER  Resolution: 1/96 note (Up to 96th note maximum resolution) Tempo range: 40-250bpm (also metronome stealing one note polyphony-  Realtime or step mode. Quantization records e from eighth notes to 96th notes, including triplets, and can be changed during recording.

MACRO function can program up to ten sequences of button-presses which can each then be actioned from a couple of button-presses (same found on RM50). I still have to figure out if really useful.

MEMORY- 100 preset patterns + 100 user programmable patterns (up to 4 measures per pattern), 20 songs (up to 999 measures each)
