Yamaha DD-10 - Digital Drum Band Percussion (1988)

A portable crunchy drum machine with lofi samples and nice pads, it can be used as a strange drum keytar. The dd10 features a simple midi and a sequencer.

What's wrong with it?

Another craiglist in Milano Navigli. The guy was pretty in a hurry to catch a plane for a concert in the UK. He told me the machine has not been used for a while. Sometimes I hope to find some issues for the fun of repairing ... in fact... The machine seems not to play (low volume) and some buttons do not react correctly but pushing quite hard.
The service manual is available (see below) but I suppose it's something not to serious.
Also a whole overhaul for a sample pack.

let's open this piece of plastic...

Opening the DD10

UPPER:  Very simple structure, very clear. A couple of screws on the back

UPPER: Quickly found Monolithic  TA7232  DUAL AUDIO POWER AMPLIFIER not working. Replaced and sound went out like a charm! changed also some electrolytic capacitor, now it's like new!

Contact Cleaning

UPPER typical pad needed some care and were pretty dirt. Continuity was good with multimeter under 200Ohm

And working!

All seems working now , altough the segment is not perfect match but it's ok. I should change also the other one to pair-  but guess what?  I don't feel like it. I was wondering to make some sound pack with a lot of huge sounds or gated phil collins stuff.
Stay tuned.
