Vintage Synth Sound Expansion (1995)

The sound expansion series are budget rackmount version of SR-JV cards for Roland JV expanders e.g JV-1080 or keyboard workstations / XP-50.

The MVS-1 is the module version of the SR-JV80-04 VINTAGE SYNTH expansion board.

RACKMOUNT 1 unit module with 11 buttons and a 7-segments display.

Rear panel terminal connectors:
- Midi interface
- main analog signal output
- signal line input (signal not processed)


Front panel terminal connectors:
- headphones.

 

TECH core 16 bits microcontroller HF6415108F (part of HD6415 - h8 / 510 / 500 family) manages 28 voices polyphony. MVS1 synthesis is based on PCM rompler subtractive synthesis and each patch is composed by 1, 2, 3 or 4 PCM samples layers.

The MVS1 module is more like a preset machine: all sounds are ready to go and it not possible to deep edit parameters from direct panel - most functions s can be changes only using an external Midi SYSEX strings generator.

 

 

PCM WAVETABLE the 16 MB internal ROM contains 255 PCM samples at 16-bits resolution.

PERFORMANCE Module is multitimbric and handles 7 parts + 1 drum.

Each part can be set with a single patch with variable multitimbral parameters: - reverb and chorus level amount - volume amount - stereo panning amount - pitch detune - Midi channel assign - keyboard zone assign

 

FILTER section is based on digital TVF - Time-Variant-Filter - and 3 different modes:

- lowpass - bandpass - highpass HEAR filter sweep

LFO 2 modulators features 7 shapes: triangle, sinewave, sawtooth, trapezoidal, random, sample & hold and a variation called chaos random.

Modulator destinations are: - LFO 1: amplitude - LFO 2: filter hear LFO sample and hold on filter

ENVELOPE each layer features 3 EGs:

- EG1 amplitude: 4 stages ADSR - EG2 filter: 4 stages ADSR - EG3 pitch: 4 stages ADSR hear slow attack on Solina samples

EFFECTS the module manages:
- 3 X choruses
- 8 X reverbs
- 2 X delay.
TECH: This section also cannot be edited or applied to a specific multitimbral part but to master out.

MEMORY:

TECH: There is no patch RAM slots but machine can bulk dump data to Midi exclusives.
