CRUMAR PERFORMER (1978)

A quite famous italian string processor with brass section and some modulation options.

The Performer is a revamped hardware re-design from model Multiman S projected by Sante & Mario Crucianelli for international market.

KEYBOARD non-dymanic 49 keys, the main panel features 2 buttons and 13 sliders. There second version "B" features an extra transpose switch and an alternate revision board structure and different IC (e.g filter SSM240).

Back panel terminal connectors:
- main signal out
- brass separate out
- gate out 3,5 mm mini-jack generates a +5V S-trig signal
- pedal input for damper function
- pitch tune trimmer

 

 

TECH Full polyphony. The synthesizer circuit is based on a single master top octave frequency (master oscillator clocked at 2,00024 mHz) Mostek MK-50240 + 12 frequency generator TDA-1008 chips (waveform and EG).

MOSTEK: basically 3 oscillators VCO dedicated to BRASS and STRING sections that can be mixed and layered: - VCO 1 + VCO 2 saw for strings sound at 2 octaves height ( 8' + 16') - VCO 3 is square-shape and generates brass sounds. Hear strings

 

 

EDIT INTERFACE each sections is well located and using the large sliders is a pleasure.

STRINGS the first section features 3 tonal controls:

- EG control: equalizes between high / low / middle frequencies - transpose: shifts to 1 upper or lower octave - lenght : a simple 2-stages EG crescendo (attack) and sustain (release).

 

BRASS analog brasses-generated instruments with a ladder filter board, later version (B?) is based on an IC SSM-2040

- filter control with resonance and cutoff (the range) - 3 segments EG ADS wich stands for: attack, decay and sustain.

 

LFO a single delayed modulator with variable depth and 2 possible destinations:

- LFO TO strings and brass pitch - LFO TO brass cutoff

FILTER 1 VCF with simple lowpass filter (with paraphonic structure)

 

REPAIR and MAINTENANCE the performer is quite reliable but need cares during times.
