Dynacord PDD14
Programmable Digital Delay (1987?)

Rackmount echo delay made in old "west" Germany with big and funny real-time knobs functions.

A low-fidelity unit for early digital geeks.

RACKMOUNT 2 rack units. Main panel features a simple segments display, 7 knobs and 13 push buttons.

Front panel terminal connectors:
- signal input with impedance switch between HI / LO and led meter
- mixed output
- pedal switch input for effect bypass.

Back panel terminal connectors:
- signal input
- mixed out
- direct out
- wet out
- custom input the sample looper FREEZE using remote PFS-14 / Fs-12.

 

TECH engine at 12 bits resolution (14 bits companded on the manual) with VCA section is based on TDA 1074- frequency response from 20 Hz to 15 kHz range.
Maximum delay time is 0,76 s (1 ms step resolution + fine adjust) and special chorus doubling + flanging effects.

DELAY SETTINGS
DURATION knob sets the number of echo repeat.
FREEZE mode creates unlimited loop infinite sound echoes (catching a perfect loop in very difficult).
TIP: the optional pedalswitch is quite bandy for some improvisations jams.

FILTER the TONE knobs acts as a simple -6dB cutoff filter on low frequencies.

LFO internal single VCO modulates the delayed pitch with variable depth and frequency speed.

 

 

MEMORY:
- 8 non-volatile RAM slots
- 64 kb internal RAM.
Special M bank adds another 8 banks, to switch turn ON pressing simultaneously [2] + [4] + [6]




HINT: To save a setting press the STORE button, then, if correctly memorized the display should blink a couple of times.

 

OS one single internal EPROM labeled PDD-158.
