Rackmount module version of keyboard sampler station Akai X-7000 keeping same structure and 12 bits grungy sound

Overview
(weight: 7 Kg) 2 units.
Main panel features a 16 x 2 lines backlit LCD, a data encoder, 3 knobs, a quick disk drive and 20 push buttons.

Voice
6 channels polyphony. Sampled sounds are assigned to voices, and each samples has some edit functions:
- transpose pitch
- tune
- backward play
- drum play (EG does not end at retrig)
Up to 6 samples can be assigned to a singles sound with split point, useful to create drum or multisampled instrument.

Sample
S700 monophonically samples at 12 bits resolution with adjustable bandwidth rates (check out the table below). Samples can be edited with classic functions such as: overdub, resample, trimmer/cut, loop point (forward, backward or alternate), in addition, the automatic splicing automatically finds the best loop point.

Performance
system manages up to 6 indipendent parts with some functions:
- mono mode (2)
- LFO to aftertouch
- midi channel
- volume

Filter
non-resonant filter based on a MF6CN a switched capacitor VCF a kind of an hybrid analog-digital offers -12dB/ Oct. slope. The filter can be assigned to velocity and features a simple Keytrack function.

LFO
1 single delayed triangular modulator with 99 scaled intensity/depth values. The LFO modulates only the pitch (vibrato)

2 EGs (only release segment) and 2 destinations:
1- amplitude
2- filter cutoff

Memory
- 32 programs
- 256 kb sampling ram (?)
- 2.8 quick disk storage (64 KB x 2)

Review
OK: cheap / 12 bits / filter
NOT : quick disk / memory restriction
"for old school sampler lovers :) Give it a try if you like grungy 12 bits compressed sound. Just be aware of obsolete quick disks.
